Everyone wants to live forever

                but now I feel
as if I've got a vested interest

                        in eternity

or at least
                a long, long time.

I want to see your adulthood

        watch you graduate

get married

                        have babies.

I calculate how old I'll be

        when you're        20,        30,        40

will I be a burden
                or a source of strength?

I hope I'll always be healthy enough

                sane enough

to be your safety net

        the way my parents are

                                for me.
