Sara's Poetry Pages - Sara McDarby

  Regrets

I crave a do-over,
         an opportunity
     to rewrite              the history
           that broke my heart.

But past tears
           stay encased in forever
the way
                   flies are trapped in amber.

Regardless of how often
              I correct the path
                        that was followed before
it never changes
the truth.
                                                     Back when we
tried so hard to blaze a better trail
the wilderness won.
